A Plague of Spiders: Salesman Who Missed The Fine Print

Originally published November 7, 2014

For the next 5 weeks, I'll be presenting a Hunter: the Vigil convention game I ran for DunDraCon 2014. Entitled Retrieval Team Zeta: A Plague of Spiders and using the new World of Darkness 2nd edition rules, it features a cell of Cheiron Group hunters as they engage in one of their first missions as a team. As might be expected casualties may be high. A full listing of available articles on this adventure can be found here.

Today I'll present an alternate corporate type, a salesman who failed to read the specifics on his or her contract. Though supposedly a face character, he or she does have some surprising combat skills.

Like all of the characters, I did not give him or her a name leave that and much of the character's physical description to the player. What has been decided is the background, skills and personality of the character.

Salesman Who Missed The Fine Print

Employee Number M082920098592

Background: You were always looking one step ahead. You won the debate championship. You breezed through college as the master of BS. When you entered the workforce, you knew you could make the big bucks in sales.

For the past few years, you have clawed your way up the chain, arranging large drug orders with small town hospitals and doctors. Recently you got an opportunity to transfer to the city and make the big commissions.

Unfortunately in looking ahead, you missed the fine print in your new contract. You missed a sales target when you took that vacation and returned to find yourself moved to the Retrieval Department. You were assured that the commissions were even larger just as large and the health plan twice as good but no one told you exactly what they did down there.

When the training session involved an encounter with zombies, you got the picture very clearly. You've rigorously applied yourself to the training program since then. The few encounters with the supernatural since then have been terrifying but at the same time you get a strange adrenaline rush.

Sample Names: David Trott, Amanda Reyes, Nicole Tiffany, Michael Allen

Professional Training: Through years of work, you have become an expert salesman.
  • Networking: You have contacts among doctors and medical administrators.
  • Continuing Education: gain 9-agains when rolling Academics and Persuasion.

Tactics: Stake Out, Net
