In my Fate campaign the First Contact Team of the FSV (Federation Space Vessel) Columbia have encountered many conflicts but the main danger they've faced has come from the mysterious Samsung corporation, a fictionalized company that fled the corporate wars of the 23rd century to establish themselves as the premier bioroid (biological android) manufacturers of the colonies.
This week we look at some of the tools the company's nefarious leader, Atsu Sumsung, has used against the Federation.
Slave Merchants
The Samsung corporation peddles many goods but the biggest are biological androids. This however is just a fancy term for technologically created slaves.Grown in vats and decanted as full-grown adults, these beings are programmed using highly advanced subliminal teaching techniques. Their genetic code is limited to the minimum necessary to keep them alive and functioning. Their bones are laid down with 3D printing techniques and their organs assembled piecemeal. Sterile and with no real childhood, they lack much of what humans take for granted.
But they do feel and are capable of the full range of emotions and thoughts as normal people. In most cases their "education" (augmented by brain chemistry modifications) removes those aspects at odds with their purpose. Things like violent behavior or free thought.
They are for sale everywhere where the morally flexible live.
Lares model
A common commercial bioroid model, these unassuming bioroids are built to serve. With attributes solidly around human norms and a disposition to accept a menial and subservient place in life, they fill the lowest rungs of societies throughout the colonies. At least in places that stomach artificially created slavery. The Lares models are guaranteed to be fully productive for their 30 year life span. Once that period runs out they quickly expire, often in a matter of days, sparing the owner the responsibility of caring for a degraded product. It also helps convince them to buy a newer version.

Sentient Snacks
These tiny bioroids are only 8 inches high. They come in a variety of shapes from tiny cows and pigs to miniature people. Controlled by a biodegradable computer, they are more machine than living thing. With their advanced programming they can talk, tell bad jokes, and attempt to entertain their owners. Their strangest feature however is that they are edible. With flesh that tastes like tasty syrup infused meat, they are capable of maintaining activity even after losing limbs or their head. Outside of their packaging they only last a couple of days, lacking a digestive system and being forced to cannibalize their own bodies to survive. In their packaging they can remain in a state of suspended animation for over a year.
Out in the colonies they've become a food fad. Unfortunately a flaw in the software allows them to be reprogrammed. While individually not dangerous, in groups and armed with small weapons, they can be deadly.

Myrmidon model
A common bioroid model are the Myrmidons. Built to be soldiers and peacekeepers, their bulky bodies emphasize upper body strength and multiply redundant organs. Stout and powerful, they are often equipped with heavy weapons and combat armor. Mass shipments lack the personalized body sculpting of given to other models, resulting in an army of identical clones. The attributes here could represent the security forces of the Hub, the private guards of the Mythweavers, or the corporate armies of Samsung itself.

Autonomous Mines
A century ago, the colonies were threatened with a terrible war. According to the histories, a colony was taken over by a group of AIs who then attempted to conquer neighboring systems. In some places fields of robotic mines were placed at the jump points of the system, ensuring anyone entering without the proper codes would be destroyed.Of course the primary provider of those mines was the Samsung corporation.
Usually deactivated, a set was brought back online just in time to severely damage the Columbia. Though the damage was repaired, several crewmen died.

The Assassins, modified Lares models
When the crew of the Columbia began to push the Samsung Corporation out of its stranglehold on commerce, its CEO struck back. Adjusting the training of two otherwise forgettable Lares bioroids, he indoctrinated them in advanced combat training, poisoning and stealth. With specially boosted physiques that would pass unnoticed under scans they were sent to the eternal twilight of the planet Midnight where they would infiltrate one of the pleasure barges and strike at those First contact Team members who most displeased him: Steve Walmart and Rho Total.- High Concept: Present But Unnoticed
- Trouble: Off the Shelf Education
- Aspect: Built to Kill
- Skills: Combat Training + 4, Physique + 3, Notice + 2, Stealth + 1
- Stunts: Off the Rack Looks: when blending in with other Samsung bioroids, gain a +2 bonus to Stealth.
- Stress: 4/2 (Mild Consequence)
Ju Li
Ju Li was a custom bioroid servant of CEO Atsu Samsung-Exogenisis. Modeled on a genetic template for beauty from before the war (and no longer subject to copyright), she was given an education in spycraft, seduction, and combat training.Acting as his agent, she drugged and captured Steve Walmart, leader of the Federation's delegation. Later she was found transmitting stolen Federation data obtained via a computer virus. Steve's bodyguard, Rochelle Total, defeated her, bashing her head in with her biometric scanner.
So she is dead. At least this unit.
Ju Li Mark II, now serving as Atsu’s personal bodyguard is rumored to be faster, stronger and more deadly.
