For the next 3 weeks, I'll be presenting a Hunter: the Vigil convention game I ran for DunDraCon 2014. Entitled Retrieval Team Zeta: A Plague of Spiders and using the new World of Darkness 2nd edition rules, it features a cell of Cheiron Group hunters as they engage in one of their first missions as a team. As might be expected casualties may be high. A full listing of available articles on this adventure can be found here.
Today I'll present a real monster hunter, or at least a hunter of cryptids, creatures science does not yet recognize. Obsessed and dedicated, this character is hunting for Bigfoot.
Like all of the characters, I did not give him or her a name leave that and much of the character's physical description to the player. What has been decided is the background, skills and personality of the character.
Obsessed Cryptozoologist
Employee Number R101420103523
Background: You've known monsters were out there for a long time. Two decades ago, you began your search for Bigfoot. There have been many close encounters, many bits of evidence that went missing or disappeared once you left the wilds. But you know it's out there and you intend to bring it back alive. You've been to the icy wastes of northern Canada and down to the swamps of the Deep South. Monster hunting doesn't generally pay well and you were staring at a massive amount of debt when the company came with a job offer.
You would be a fool not to take their money. In exchange for the rights to the creatures once you captured them, they erased your debts. The fact that the evidence disappears into the R&D labs hasn't sunk in quite yet. You still think you will capture a monster and finally get recognition for your years of hard work.
Sample Names: Greg Elloit, Ruth Little, Hank Jensen
Interdisciplinary Specialty: you can use your Cryptids Specialty with any other skill you have if you can justify it.
Tactics: Stake Out, Net
